Member, Barnstable County Human Rights Advisory Commission. Mwalim (Morgan James Peters, I) is an interdisciplinary performing artist, writer, composer, and educator. A life-long organizer for the cause of civil and human rights, Mwalim is an appointed commissioner of the Arts for the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, as well as a board member and the youth director for the Cape Cod NAACP, a founding member of the Oversoul Theatre Collective, and for over 35 years, has actively uses his work in music, theater, poetry, and literature as a platform to address and explore the social and political experiences and realities of Black and Brown people in the United States. He is a tenured professor of English, Communications & Black Studies at UMass Dartmouth.
